EHE professor first African American to win SHAPE award

On Campus

Samuel Hodge, professor of kinesiology, is the first African American to receive the SHAPE America Scholar Award since it was established in 1976.

He was honored in April 2016 for his distinguished career and academic contributions. His extensive work focuses on training the next generation of professionals and advancing adapted physical education.

Hodge also was named a Fellow of the National Association for Kinesiology in Higher Education in 2016.
