EHE web developer John Arcadian took to the TEDxOhioStateUniversity stage in February to convince his audience they could improve their social skills if they just played more games.
“We don’t have a lot of places to play, to do this kind of social play that we do when we’re kids,” Arcadian said. “Why don’t we practice (these skills) as adults?”
Arcadian argues that playing tabletop role-playing games such as Dungeons and Dragons helps you become a better storyteller and, thus, a more confident speaker.
This passion for gaming and creativity fueled Arcadian to get on stage and share his ideas.
“It was always a dream of mine to do a TED talk on tabletop gaming,” he said. “Mostly, so I could get up in front of a bunch of people and make silly voices.”
Mission accomplished.
