REACHing out to stop suicide

On Campus

Under the guidance of Professor Darcy Haag Granello, the Ohio State Suicide Prevention training program, REACH, empowers the campus community to talk about suicide and work together to prevent it.

In seven years, REACH has taught more than 9,000 students, faculty, staff and community members to recognize the warning signs and take action to help those considering suicide.

REACH redoubled its efforts in 2015, setting out to train 5,000 more people in two years. Thanks to a law passed by the Ohio Legislature, Granello is also taking the lead to help other public colleges in Ohio implement suicide prevention programs. She will help ensure they have effective resources for all students.
